Your first visit will be for half an hour but we usually like an hour for a back problem or for someone with complicated medical cases as it takes time to take a good history. If relevant, the secretary will take details of any private health insurance you might have. With most of them, we bill the insurance company direct. If you are a litigation case following a road traffic accident, we need a referral in writing from your solicitor and arrangements can then be set up.
We try to run very much on time so it is unlikely that you will be kept waiting. We first take a history and ask about your present symptoms. You then undress as required and you will be examined. You will then be given the appropriate treatment which may include advice and exercises to do at home as well as hands-on treatment if appropriate.
We do have the authority to give you a sick note if we think it is necessary. Obviously some conditions take longer than others but our aim is to get you better with as little treatment as possible.
You are encouraged to ring the Physiotherapist if you have any questions or problems. If she or he is busy at that time, they will telephone you later and we are always pleased to have your comments once the treatment has ended.
We require 24 hours notice of a cancellation. Otherwise you may be charged for this.
Discharge letters are sent to your General Practitioner at the end of your treatment. Please inform us if you do not wish this to happen.
